24/06/2018 The Ballarat Symphony
Orchestra is excited to announce six talented young soloists who will each
perform a concerto movement with the Orchestra in this year’s Youth Concerto
Concert.  The concerto is of their own choosing, bringing their own
interpretation and skill to the music.  Presenting eight pieces of music
in total, we invite you to relax in comfort and listen to the newly written Lex
Overture by Robert Dora, a range of Classical Concertos presented by the
soloists, and the finale, the Superman March by John Williams.  The
Ballarat Symphony Orchestra has been in operation for over 30 years as a not-for-profit
organisation formed and presented entirely by volunteers.  Our Guest
Conductor for this performance is Gyula Cseszkó.

Murder, mystery, mayhem! What more could you want in a musical? It’s
1959 and the opening night of Boston Colonial Theatre’s new musical but when
the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage, the entire cast and crew are
While investigating the murder, a local
detective finds himself caught between theatrical egos, deceit, and a budding
love affair. A huge fan of musical theatre himself, the detective even has some
suggestions on how to improve 
the show.

award-winning works CabaretChicago and Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Debut is a competition designed for up and coming pole dancers, to provide a
creative outlet in which they can express their individual style and give them
the opportunity to compete in a professional environment. 

Organiser Jenny Toner and her team have sourced talent from a pool of the best
Australian amateur pole dancers; come along and enjoy the incredible talent
that will be showcased in this performance-based competition.

We’re excited for our debut of Debut amateur competition.

Herman’s Hermits, one of the biggest 60’s British Invasion bands, are bringing their ‘6 O’Clock Hop’ tour to Australia in August/September 2018 where every show starts at 6pm sharp.
Their Australian No. 1 hits, ‘Mrs. Brown you’ve got a lovely daughter’ and ‘No milk today’ made the group one of the most popular groups of the day here in Australia. 
Herman’s Hermits first toured Australia in 1966 on the ‘Caravan of Stars 66’ tour with Tom Jones in support.  “It’s all about the songs”, Whitwam says, “and we were very lucky to have had a lot of hits in the sixties that people still want to hear today. We’re very lucky!”

David Hobson returns to Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts
with the Victoria Welsh Choir.

David Hobson is one of Australia’s best known operatic
tenors, a concert and stage performer, a composer and recording artist. He has
sung many roles for both state and international opera companies, including his
award-winning performances as Rodolfo and Orphée.

He is well known from his appearances on Carols by
Candlelight, Spicks and Specks, Dancing with the Stars, as a presenter on
Foxtel’s STUDIO and is a regular performer on Bravo Arts Cruise. David has also
recorded numerous albums with many reaching No.1 chart status.
Victoria Welsh Choir, led by Faleiry Koczkar OAM and
accompanied by Lorna Ogilvie, is a traditional Welsh male voice choir, singing
in four-part harmony. Come for an afternoon of glorious music, listening to the
choir’s beautiful harmonies and David’s enchanting tenor voice.

Moss delivers an unforgettable sound – not only as a telling soloist on guitar
but especially with his silken voice, ringing with clarity and resonating with
pure soul. While primarily recognised as an axeman of tenacity and sweet
melodic sensibility, Ian’s distinctive vocal is the essential signature of his
soulful, bluesy muse.

and raised in Alice Springs, Ian joined a band in 1973 that was to become a
legend in Australia and that made such an undeniable impact that they are now etched
in the Australian music psyche forever. That band was Cold Chisel.
