The Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts was developed in 2006 through a partnership between Ballarat Grammar and the wider Ballarat Community.
The large auditorium seats 857 and the expansive stage area has the capacity to handle performances ranging from opera, pipe bands, and live theatre to orchestral and ensemble presentations. Many dance and theatre schools u the facility for their gala performances whilst primary schools hold their graduation ceremonies here.
International performance groups, like the Japanese Bunraku Puppets, have already appeared in the Centre. It is also the home of the Ballarat Symphony Orchestra and Ballarat combined Schools' Symphony Orchestra.
The Centre is a venue of the highest standard and seeks to showcase excellence.
It also illustrates, in a very public way, Ballarat Grammar's commitment to innovation in environmental sustainability in its cooling system, using convection to move parcels of air from the underfloor labyrinth rather than conventional air conditioning.
The Venue is suitable for a wide variety of large events from intimate live theatre, acoustic concerts, comedy, orchestral, ballet, public lectures, seminars etc. more...
The Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts is a splendid jewel in the crown for Ballarat, further enriching the cultural and artistic life of the City and Western Victoria.
This recently completed Proscenium Arched Concert Hall boasts an acoustically superior Auditorium consisting of stalls seating and two balconies. The configuration of the seating allows unrestricted views from each of the 857 seats.
